Abstract:In this research, the Ku-band active phased array antenna is designed on the basis of tile architecture, being able to do beam scanning range of ±70°. This is made up of integrated micro-strip patch plate antenna, Transmit/Receive (T/R) module, beam control and feeding network and radiator, in which the tile-structured T/R module enables all channels to simultaneously prestore the amplitude and phase compensation code of both receiving and transmitting branch. Comparing with the traditional brick-structured T/R module, this innovative structure can greatly minimize the size of RF signal flow, and this can in the meantime help to achieve in integration of 128 channels, meeting the characteristics of miniaturization, lightweight and high reliability. What’s more, with triangular-structured array, compared with the traditional rectangular array structure, the gain of 60°scan of antenna array has increased by 1 dB. Besides, the advantages of lower profile, being thinner-and-lighter and easy to install and dismantle make this active phased array antenna more valuable in application.
