Exploratory research on network layer algorithm for Terahertz ultra-high data rate wireless communication system

    Abstract:

    A new ultra high-speed wireless network layer algorithm—PCNT(Packet-Convergence- based Network) is presented in order to solve the problem that the existing network layer could not match the Terahertz(THz) ultrafast physical layer(PHY) and Media Access Control layer(MAC). PCNT algorithm achieves the data aggregation by exchanging cross-layer information. It accelerates the end-to-end data rate and obtains a higher end-to-end system throughput. The simulation results show that, the new algorithm can achieve about 12.6 Gbps end-to-end system throughput which is 1.21 times of that of 5.7 Gbps when the new algorithm is not used. At the same time, the performances of average end-to-end delay and packet loss rate are also greatly improved. The new algorithm PCNT can provide significant support to the research of network layer protocol for the terahertz ultra-high data rate wireless networks in the future.
